Happy May! We are proud to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month this month! The well-being of the kids we support is of the utmost importance to us. Survivors of human trafficking often experience anxiety, depression and/or post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of their trauma. We exist to offer them resources, relationship, and support to assist them on their healing journeys.
In addition to the kids we support we also care deeply about the mental health of our community at large. If you or someone you know are in crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or dial 9-1-1 in case of emergency. You can call or text 9-8-8, or chat 988lifeline.org.
A few weeks ago, we celebrated our 13th Annual Gala with our Saving Innocence community. It was a beautiful night spent hearing about and recognizing the resilient journeys of the survivors we support. Thanks to our incredible donors and partners, we were able to raise $330,000!
A recap of our 2024 Annual Gala: The Journey
LA Regional Human Trafficking Task Force
The Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force, co-led by Saving Innocence, continues to participate front and center in some important investigations in our city. Members of the Task Force have recently assisted the Department of Labor in a labor trafficking investigation in City of Industry and La Puente, where a poultry processor was fined $3.8 million for hiring and endangering kids as young as 14-years-old. There were 437 workers who were either underpaid or working in violation of child labor laws. The investigation is on-going, and we’re thankful to be playing an important part in it.
This month is Foster Care Month! An estimated 60% of child sex trafficking survivors are or have been in the foster care system. In order to end human trafficking, it is absolutely essential to connect youth to safe and loving families. This is why Saving Innocence is also a Foster Family Agency!
If you or someone you know are interested in learning more about fostering with Saving Innocence, you can sign up to join our next monthly informational session on June 5th here. For more information, you can also contact [email protected].

As we shared with you last December, we are facing one of our biggest fiscal challenges yet. $1 million of our funding has been redirected by the county, and we need your support now more than ever.
In order to meet this moment, we are asking you, our supporters, to please sign up for a recurring monthly gift of any amount – it can be $25, $50, $100, $250, or any other amount. Your contribution allows us to keep our focus on what matters most, namely, serving survivors of human trafficking.
